What I am Loving

Happy Thursday! I decided to do my Pinterest Post yesterday, so I thought I would do a what I am loving Thursday post :) Saturday, while I was in Tuscaloosa I did some shopping of course. I got quite the goods at TJ Maxx so I had to share them with you!

I have to tell you that I received a sample of this perfume in one of the first Birchboxes I ever got and I really fell in love with it. When I went in TJ Maxx the other day I found this gift set for a great price so i knew I had to get it!

I got this really cute Cynthia Rowley jacket at TJ Maxx
The picture doesn't do it justice, it is really cute!

I saw one of these cookbooks on Pinterest and the very next day I got a Groupon to buy this for $12! So of course I had to buy it. It has 4500 recipes in it. It even teaches you how to cook. I really have enjoyed it and I know I will put it to good use! So I guess it's obvious that I love to find a SALE. I like to shop frugally- if that's even a word. ha

As you know my boyfriend and I are kinda obsessed.
We have to watch at least 2-3 episodes a night!
I think we have made it to season 3 now.
Don't give it away, but I think I heard it is now season 6 and they still haven't told how the mother is?! How?? I guess I will have to watch and find out!

So the teams in the Super Bowl have been determined:
With it being a little over a week away I need to start planning the menu for my super bowl party! What are your plans for the big game?

Do you own any of these items or watch HIMYM?

Simple 3 Ingredient January Recipe!

TGIF! In honor of the extremely cold weather that has come to Alabama I thought I would share a favorite recipe of mine.. and it just happens to deal with snowmen. It is not looking like Alabama will get snow this year because as soon as it gets cold, it turns warm the next day, crazy winter. Seriously it is not supposed to get out of the 40s tomorrow and then I saw by Tuesday it is supposed to be 65!! Talk about people getting sickness!

Ok enough about the weather, let's move to the subject of the matter... Ritz Cracker Snowmen!
I am sure you have all had these simple yet amazingly good cookies/crackers. What's even better is that you don't even have to use an oven.
Aren't they cute?
My mom and I made these cute little snowmen for a family Christmas parties, but snowmen doesn't have to be just Christmas related. To make these cookies it only takes 3 ingredients, how easy is that?!

Ritz Cracker Cookies
I box Ritz Crackers
1 jar Peanut Butter
1 package Almond Bark ( I prefer white chocolate)
Spread peanut butter between two Ritz Crackers and sandwich together. Melt the squares of Almond Bark in the microwave until melted; stirring well. Dip the crackers in the chocolate and place on a cookie sheet. Remove when the chocolate has hardened.
If you want snowmen take gel containers to "paint" the face on!
I told you it was simple!
Have you ever made these?
What design did you make on them?

The Perfect "Football Watching" Snack

It is finally Friday!! Since this is football season, I thought I would post one of my favorite recipes to make. It is an appetizer that is perfect to snack on while watching your favorite team play.

I am not sure what the official name is, I have heard some people refer to it as "heart attack in a crock pot." I just simply call it, weenies wrapped in bacon. ha

I got this recipe from my friend, Emily. I didn't know until today that there was a different way to make the weenies wrapped in bacon. Guess where I found the new recipe.. pinterest!
First I will post my recipe then I will post the new recipe. Don't they look delicious?!

My version of "weenies wrapped in bacon"
Ingredients:
2 packages of hotdogs
1 package bacon
1 box of brown sugar
toothpicks
crock pot

1. Cut each hotdog in half and lay them aside and then cut each piece of bacon in half. 2. Take the half piece of bacon and wrap it around one of the hotdog halves. 3. Secure it with the toothpick. 4. Then place it in your crock pot. Continue to do this until you have the whole bottom of the crock pot covered. Take the brown sugar and sprinkle large amounts on the weenies, then repeat steps 1-4 and place these weenies on top of the ones your previously sprinkled with brown sugar. Once you have completed these steps, put the lid on the crockpot and turn it to high for several hours. I have found that it takes around 5 hours to make them really good. Make sure to check them and if you think they look like they are burning then turn the tempature to low.

Here is the new recipe from Tasty Kitchen:
They use little smokies instead of hotdogs and use the oven instead of crock pot.
Ingredients:
I pound lil smokies
12 ounces of bacon
For the glaze:
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup maple syrup
1 tablespoon dijon mustard
1 pinch of cayenne (optional)

1. Empty the smokies onto some paper towels and blot them dry. Dry smokies will allow the bacon to adhere better. Place the dried smokies in a single layer (keeping them separated) onto a small cookie sheet. Place in the freezer for 45 minutes.
While the smokies are in the freezer, cut the bacon into thirds. Separate each piece of bacon and place on a large cookie sheet in a single layer. Put the bacon in the fridge for at least 30 minutes. The well-chilled smokies and bacon will help to keep everything from getting too slippery when you wrap the smokies later.
When it is nearly time to take the smokies out of the freezer, preheat the oven to 350F. Line a rimmed sheet pan with heavy-duty aluminum foil. Make the glaze by whisking together the brown sugar, maple syrup, mustard, and cayenne (if using). Whisk the mixture well to ensure that the larger pieces of brown sugar have broken up.
Wrap a piece of bacon around each smokie, pressing firmly on the final edge of the bacon to better ensure it does not spring open during baking. Try not to stretch the bacon when wrapping the sausages. Place the bacon-wrapped smokies onto the foil-lined sheet pan, seam side down. Continue with the rest of the bacon and smokies. Using a spoon, put a little bit of the thick glaze on top of each bacon-wrapped smokie, trying to coat each one evenly. You should have just enough glaze to do the entire batch.
Bake the smokies for about 35 minutes or until they are lightly brown on top. Immediately transfer the smokies to a serving plate or a slow cooker set on low to keep warm. Recipe courtesy of Cooking Ventures.

I am excited to try this new recipe to see which one I like better. I am sure you will be satisified with either one! Beware, they are sooo addicting! Make sure to let me know if you make them because I want to know your thoughts on them.

Alabama plays the Florida Gators this week! I am hoping they bring home another win! What are your plans for this weeekend? Who is your team playing?

Have a good weekend and roll tide! :)

Misc. Monday & Hart of Dixie Preview

How was your weekend? Did you do anything fun? My weekend involved a lot of football! I am linking up with lowercase letters today to join in Miscellany Monday. I hope you will link up with me too.
{1} Alabama is now 4-0 for the season after beating the Arkansas Razorbacks Saturday night! Bama was really on fire this week and I loved every minute of it!

{2} Look how cute this dog is, he looks like a little bear! My boyfriend's cousin was surprised with it this weekend and I fell in love with it. He is a Yorkie-Poodle. Now I think I have dog fever!

{3} I can't wait for Hart of Dixie to premiere tonight at 8 on the CW. It is about a doctor, Zoe Hart(Rachel Bilson) who has a set back that sends her to a small town in Alabama to continue her practice. It looks like it will be a great show and I love they are using Alabama- although sometimes when people show Alabama in movies and tv shows they make us Alabamians looks really bad-- it is not that bad here, promise!
You can see the preview here:

{4} Everyone has loved the homemade Butterfingers I made last week. Make sure you get the recipe here, if you missed it!

{5} I really need to go see The Help before it leaves theaters! I read the book and really liked it and I have heard nothing but great reviews on the movie. Hopefully I will see it soon!

Have a great day! :)

Starting Halloween Early with Homemade Butterfingers

I told you yesterday that I had made some homemade butterfingers so I will share the simple recipe with you! I found the recipe from Lacey at Southern in the City, make sure you go by her blog to see the step by step pictures.

Butterfingers are so good, but they are even better when they can be homemade with only 3 ingredients! All you will need is candy corn, peanut butter and chocolate candy coating. I love eating candy corn, but never thought to melt it down. At first I thought there was no way that candy corn and peanut butter mixed together would taste like butterfingers, but it does!

Homemade Butterfingers
1 lb. bag of candy corn
1 jar of peanut butter
(Lacey recommended honey roasted, but I just used creamy and still got a good result)
16 oz package chocolate candy coating

Melt candy corn in microwave for one minute. Stir and continue cooking in 15 second intervals, stirring after each time. Stir in peanut butter. Spread mixture in a 8x8 pan lined with wax paper, cool completely.  Cut into squares (any size will work) and then dip in the chocolate candy coating. Lay the squares on wax paper to set.

That is it and then you will have...
Let me know if you try it! Have a great weekend! :)
