Anyone Want to Share Makeup Advice?

Happy Tuesday! I am thankful to see new followers :) Yesterday my grandmother and I went shopping and we shopped till we dropped. I got several new shirts and a cute pair of shoes.. I will post pictures later in the week with the new Jessica Simpson bag that I got this past weekend. Also, last night I went with my Sunday School class to the local mexican restaurant to eat and chat. It was fun to get together. I meant to take pictures and totally forgot!

I have been searching makeup tutorials online, mainly on YouTube because I feel like my makeup is just the "same ole-same ole" and I want to try something different. I am not an expert at all when it comes to makeup so I like to see what other people are doing and to see if it would work for me. Two of my favorites to subscribe to are these two ladies.. Alba and Emily. They have really good advice and tips. Emily posts very often and seems to have a post for anything you can think of. She even did a post where she went to the dollar store and bought a lot of non-name brand items and compared them to the name brands.. it was really interesting, you can watch it here.

I would say my favorite makeup item is mascara, I can never leave home without it on. Sometimes I just feel like my lashes can never get long enough! I bought a pair of false lashes a long time ago, but never could figure them out so I ended up throwing them away. After watching several videos on YouTube I decided to try them again.
I decided to go with Select Lash from Dollar General because they were very cheap.. $1.25. I didn't want to buy a more expensive pair when really these would be my "testers" I wasn't thrilled with the results, but I know it will take time to learn the right amount of glue and how not to make a mess with it.
I would love to try out these looks and be able to do them right. Do any of you have any suggestions for applying false lashes or know of any blogs or websites I should checkout? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)

What color eyes do you have? Are you going for a specific look? When I wear eye makeup I always use 2 different colors. For my typical day look I will do a nice soft pink on the inner corner to about 3/4 of my eyelid and then I will do a mute brown on my outter eye for a day smokey look. For a night going out look I will usually keep the pink and then play with the otter corner color and do a smoky dark gray or dark green or a darker brown depending on what I am wearing. Just have fun with it!

I've done a lot of false lashes for myself for pageants and when I do makeup for other girls for special events and such. The key is to put a very small amount of glue on the rim of the lashes then sit them aside and let it firm up until its tacky. Then put them on carefully from the inside out. If they need trimming, make sure to do it before you start messing with the glue. If you're nervous, just do one at a time and then take a little break and do something else like your lipstick.

I think for every day stuff its best to just curl your lashes and use a really good mascara. I always blow dry my eye lash curler for about ten seconds to warm it and it really makes your lashes pop. Also, I use the new lash love mascara by Mary Kay and think its amazing - you can check it out on my blog under the shop with me tab.

If you find a good tutorial let me know!! I'm definitely not makeup savvy. The best makeup I've ever had was when I got married, and I had my makeup professionally done. I bought some of the same products my makeup artist used, but I can't seem to get the same effect. Maybe it's because she did the airbrush makeup too.

I found that it's easiest to get false lashes on straight if you keep you eyelid half open so that you can still see out of both eyes, and that allows you to get the false lashes right up next to your real ones. Put on a tiny bit of mascara to stick your real lashes to the fake ones.
